Fanelo Ya Mina is a Mozambican women led non-profit organization, established in 2011. Today, Fanelo Ya Mina has established a growing presence in Mozambique and plays an active role internationally. Fanelo Ya Mina works to ensure that girls and boys, women and men enjoy the full benefits of gender justice and human rights.
Who We Are
Fanelo Ya Mina means – Our Duty!
Our duty for the promotion of a gender equitable society is what drives us! Due to the plight of many women throughout the World, we decided to create an organization with a vast scope of interventions among them – the involvement of men and boys – in the creation of a favorable living society in which both genders are allowed to realize the highest ideals of human development through the expression of gender equality.

Focus Areas
Fanelo Ya Mina implements a holistic and very comprehensive model based on transformative gender approaches that address four (4) strategic areas of focus in which men and boys play a critical interchangeable role:
Policy
Agenda
The issue of gender equality was placed on the policy agenda by women. The reason is obvious: its women who are disadvantaged by the main patterns of gender inequality and the patriarchal dividend and who therefore have the claim to redress.
Trainings on Gender
Transformative Approches
Engaging men in gender equality directly impacts on the spread and effects of HIV and AIDS. Also, the intersections between GBV and HIV are clear as GBV not only results in ill health, but also contributes to the spread of HIV.

Responsible Fatherhood Project
Responsible fatherhood is essential for the development of children and for building families and societies that better reflect gender equity and protect children’s rights. In Mozambique, work that relates to caregiving remains dominated by females. This places a great burden on women and also perpetuates norms about the “incapacity” of men to care for themselves and for others.

Our Work
We engage men and boys – as partners and agents of change – on ways to promote gender equality, social justice and well-being for all – women, girls, children and men themselves.
